The Angels, are still among us!

Today was especially good because Amy and Angie came to take me to my treatments. Angie gets so excited to come with Nana and get her Strawberry Shake (ENSURE that they keep in the mini fridge for the patients). She just brings a breath of fresh air to a room that is usually filled with pain, fatigue and sadness. She talks to everyone in there and tells them how delicious the shakes are and then shows them the water and her glittery shoes. Yes, it is good when she comes... because in her world there is no cancer or pain, she is just excited to see and talk to everyone. She just is loving every minute of life!

Amy is going to put together a book for me about my journey through cancer again and so she took lots of pictures for that today. I know that is a lot, for Amy to come all this way to take me but they get to stay for the day and then John meets them here for dinner, we love having them here.

I had so many angel visits today. It truly does build me up and make me realize how blessed I am to be so loved and cared about. One angel dropped off homemade scones, another some skin care, another healing cream, another one dinner, a phone call, an email and then even a card. How can I feel to sorry for myself? I am truly rich. There are angels among us!

"Angels can fly because they carry no burdens."    _____ Eileen Elias Freeman

Another dear angel is always sends me uplifting emails and the one she sent me today was great and that is what I will share with you.

IT IS THE STORY OF THE EAGLE

THE EAGLE HAS THE LONGEST LIFE-SPAN OF ITS SPECIES. IT CAN LIVE UP TO 70 YEARS BUT TO REACH THIS AGE, THE EAGLE MUST MAKE A HARD DICISION. IN ITS 40"S IT'S LONG AND FLEXIBLE TALONS CAN NO LONGER GRAB PREY WHICH SERVES AS FOOD. ITS LONG AND SHARP BEAK BECOMES BENT, IT'S OLD-AGED AND HEAVY WINGS, DUE TO THEIR THICK FEATHERS, BECOME STUCK TO IT'S CHEST AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO FLY. THEN, THE EAGEL IS LEFT WITH ONLY TWO OPTIONS: DIE OR GO THROUGH A PAINFUL PROCESS OF CHANGE WHICH LASTS 150 DAYS. THE PROCESS REQUIRES THAT THE EAGLE FLY TO A MOUNTAIN TOP AND SIT ON IT'S NEST. THERE THE EAGLE KNOCKS ITS BEAK AGAINST A ROCK UNTIL IT PLUCKS IT OUT. AFTER PLUCKING IT OUT, THE EAGLE WILL WAIT FOR A NEW BEAK TO GROW BACK AND THEN IT WILL PLUCK OUT IT'S TALONS. WHEN IT'S NEW TALONS GROW BACK, THE EAGLE STARTS PLUCKING IT'S OLD-AGED FEATHERS.

AND, AFTER 5 MONTHS, THE EAGLE TAKE'S IT'S FAMOUS FLIGHT OF REBIRTH AND LIVES FOR ANOTHER 30 MORE YEARS.

WHY IS CHANGE NEEDED?

MANY TIMES, IN ORDER TO SURVIVE WE HAVE TO START A CHANGE PROCESS. WE SOMETIMES NEED TO GET RID OF OLD MEMORIES, HABITS AND OTHER PAST TRADITIONS. ONLY FREED FROM PAST BURDENS, CAN WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PRESENT!

I am not sure why my friend sent this to me today, but it was appropriate because it has been 5 months now that I have been going through this hard and painful change process. My body has changed and although I am not as lucky as the eagle, to have my body parts grow back... better and stronger I do hope that this whole process will give me the opportunity to live quite a few more GOOD, no... GREAT years. I am not the same Lynn that walked into that hospital 5 months ago to have a mastectomy. I pray that when my healing is done and my pain is gone that I will be able to live a better and fuller life with more purpose. I also hope that I will have the opportunity to help bring about some changes ...better changes for the women behind me, that will have to walk down this same road of Cancer. I pray the change that my body and my spirit is having now will truly make a difference and I will be a better, stronger and happier Lynn. Thanks so much for helping me through this long 5 months process.I only have 2 days left!
