A new best friend!

I had to sew a few accessories for my trip, felt like I needed to sew something before dropping off my machines for maintance while I am gone. Gee I have as hard of time giving up my machines as I did dropping off my kids at school...not really I didn't cry with the kids! Ha Ha! Just kidding, but I am attached to my machines.
So I made a change purse, card holder and tissue holder! It was a new pattern and I liked how it came out! Then I made these pink luggage tags, because the last time I tried to find my luggage at the airport, I pulled off quite a few BLACK pieces of luggage ...only to find out ( after breaking my back ) that it wasn't mine! Not any more!
Between flights I found a place to get Sushi! Here is what my fortune cookie said! That's right, I am really taking a chance at doing this new business. LynnMade is becoming a reality and I am soooo excited, mostly because my family will be a big part of it! We are ready to take the chance!

On the flight I gave my seat to a family so that they could sit together, I remember well traveling with all four kids from Seattle to West Virginia ... many times others gave up their seats to let us sit together. Seriously, wouldn't anyone rather have their kids with their Mothers?
I made a New Friend ( I got a photo with her but wasn't sure she wanted me to share it ), she was too cute and we hit if off right away. By the way we were laughing and carrying on, you would have thought we were Sisters! Her sweet son sat with us and was kind enough to endure both flights with us, show me how to use my new iphone and even help me get my luggage off the carrousel ( at least we knew which ones mine were)! We said goodbye after swapping cards and numbers, can't wait to meet up with her again when we get home. Did I mention she too was a Cancer Survivor? We had a lot in common! What a treat to make a new Best Friend, it made the trip go so much faster!

I walked in the door late last night and guess who was still up waiting for her Nana? Well, she was actually waiting for her Mommy to feed her again but I was thrilled to have some Snuggle time with this SuperGirl as soon as I got there! She has grown so much since we last Face Timed with her!
Then there is this sweet Grandson of mine. Mr Kai! He was so fun to hang out with today, we played, went shopping, set the table for dinner and read some books. He said the bed time prayers. What a sweet heart. How grateful I am to see that his Mommy and Daddy are teaching him about his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ at such a young age. It will bless his life forever.
So he asked Aunt Amy and Aunt Lauren to be protected on their flights in tomorrow, asked for all of us to be safe and sleep well and then he told what he was grateful for...his Mommy, Daddy, Baby Oakley and his puppy Kevia.
I love to hear kids say their prayers, they are straight from the heart! Then he went to bed with Super Man watching over him too! Can never have too many Super Heroes watching over you right? :)
I sure have missed these guys. I love being here. Love their new house and the celebrating the new chapter in their lives. I feel truly blessed.
Good Night dear friends!

Home again!

Well, what a great day it was today. Got to go to church with my friend, came home got a bite to eat, and then headed off to the airport to go home. The flight was packed full, but I was privileged to sit with a sweet Mother and her daughter. We had such a fun time and talking and doing some things with the little girl...made me miss my granddaughters. We aren't used to being away from each other very long
The Mother was sweet and reminded me of my sweet Amy, she was young, kind and cute. I think when I look at my daughter and daughter in laws, and all these other sweet young Mothers around... that the world is in good hands, well at least the next generation has some incredible Mom's to show them the way.
Then there was a 8 month old little girl in front of me that I kept playing with and making her laugh...that made me really miss my grandson. Can't believe we get to see him and hold him in just 4 days!
I just thought tonight for my blog that I would write a challenge to each of you. A challenge to make a new friend, take the time out to get to know someone, learn a bit about their lives and see if it doesn't make you feel better.  Enlarging our circle of friends I think is important.  I love making a new friend, one can never have too many!
So my heart goes out tonight to all the new friends that I got to make on my trip this past week, and for all of  you dear friends that have been with me through the years. You truly make life worth living! Thank you and good night!

Day one!

Day one!
Well, we actually started our road trip today. We flew from Utah clear across the United States to Atlanta, then on to Virginia.  We had trouble getting on our flight in Atlanta, first no pilot, second problems with the plane but after the 3rd gate change and plane change... and a couple hours of waiting, we made it. Funny how it didn't seem so bad when I was Shirley...we just laughed and laughed.
Shirley loves Virginia and it is beautiful here but when I got off the plane and felt that warm thick air, I remembered one thing that I haven't missed all these years...humidity. But the area is green and beautiful.
Tonight I finally after years of being gone out of the water, I actually swam tonight. How did my prosthetic do? Well, it didn't fall out of my suit but it was located down by my belly button by the time I did probably about 20 some laps ( it was a short pool ). Lucky for me, no one was there when I was trying to rearrange myself. Still it felt good to be back into the water. I hope I can actually so back to swimming again. I haven't exercised in years... I need to get back to it! Well, at least I have a pool here for 3 days, so hopefully I will take advantage of it.
The time change is 3 hours different from home so I need to head to bed.Good night dear friends!

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be.
That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.
But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.
There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.
Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.
So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.
Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.
Keep Believing in Yourself!

Being prepared. Well, today here I sit at the airport waiting for 2 more hours for the next flight. There were 16 of us that missed our flight today, because of something that was going on with security. Once our line got up to check through, they closed the gate and then started triple checking everyone. I was used to going through a couple of checks but this was also the scan, then a pat down and then a skin check for explosives. I have never seen anything like this before. I asked at security if they would notify the gate that we were all being held up, and they said there would be no problem but... such was not the case. I guess that is why they tell you to get there 2 hours early. Jeff and I figured that we wouldn't need to do 2 hours early because it was Monday and Memorial Day but.... so much for that theory.
I watched as all the other customers were reacting to missing the flight, and then having to pay $50.00 extra to catch the next one; I realized that I too was upset and it didn't seem fair but... getting made and angry wasn't going to change the situation and sooooooooo I should have been better prepared. I should have been here 2 hours early...just in case something like this happened. Lesson learned!

Yesterday was Jeff's birthday, we had Amy and John and girls over to celebrate with him. Amy's birthday is just a few days after Jeff's and so we seem to have lots of party's and photos of she and her Dad celebrating their B-days together. As I watched them smile for the camera...I had to smile too! How grateful I am that Amy as well as the other kids have such an amazing person for their Dad. Jeff has truly done something wonderful for his kids. He was the best Dad ever! He didn't have the same experience as a child, so for him to fulfill that role without a role model ...is nothing short of a miracle. From day one, he has loved being a Father and each of his kids. I feel honored that I get to be his wife and companion all these years.
So I am getting ready to head to Salt Lake and then go on a road trip with one of my best friends and sister-in-law Shirley for 13 days, I can hardly wait. I hope my body holds up. Luckily we don't have to be in any hurry and we are just looking forward to being together. Road trip...doesn't that sound fun? I will try and share most of it with you, so stay turned.
Take care dear friends!
