How you make Others feel!
There are so many things to do as I prepare this business to launch, I feel overwhelmed to say the least. Still the bottom line is I hope that I can make a difference in the world, through my classes. Sounds a bit corny doesn't it? But it's true!:)
I went tonight to have a LynnMade Rubber Stamp made, it was fun talking to the young girl who worked there as we waited for the stamp to be made. She was only 17 but very sweet. As we talked about my business, she said that her Grandmother had taught her how to quilt....just the way she talked you could tell how much she loved her Grandmother! I love to see when good things get passed down from generation to generation!
We kept trying size after size! This sweet sewing machine (which is upside down ) was the part that Lauren drew! How grateful I am for such talented kids ( who help their Mother )!
Good Night dear friends!

I hope we all can learn from this!

Generations helping each other!
We saw it with my Grandma Johnny. Just a couple of years after Jeff and I got married, we lived just a block away from the nursing home she was in. Almost every day, Amy and I would walk over to go see her. From the moment we walked in the door, all of the ladies started holding out their hands ( if they could ) wanting Amy to come talk to them or at least give them a hug. Amy was so good with them, she took time to visit for just a moment with each one before getting to her Great Grandma Johnny.
It would make Grandma made though, she would always say... " she isn't part of their family and yet they won't live her alone. She came to see me! "
At first I was going to tell her Grandma that's not nice, then I remembered each day she waited for us to come. She said that wherever they put her in the morning after breakfast, that was where she would stay all day, even if we just came for a moment...it made her day! So having never been in that situation, I decided to not say a word. How we loved her and I hope that she knew that.
Anyway, watch how these people in this Nursing Home light up...when these little kids come to visit them!

Good Night dear friend!

Hourglass
"Hourglass" Mindy Gledhill
I can’t help but kiss your cheeks
I love the way you grab my hands
And tell me all about your plans
Rocket high, comets fly
You and I could take a ride
And fly away to Neverland
And give our best to Peter Pan
When you reach for the stars
Don’t forget who you are
And please don’t turn around and grow up way too fast
See the sand in my grasp
From the first to the last
Every grain becomes a memory of the past
Oh, life’s an hourglass
Life’s an hourglass
Story’s read, prayer is said
Close your eyes sleepyhead
While angels linger in your dreams
And hold you in their feathered wings
Just like you, I was small
Not that long ago at all
I wish you all the happiness
That God gives freely if you ask
[Chorus]
Then I couldn't help but remember another sweet blonde hair but blue eyes, fun and happy boy of ours... Bradley. We just celebrated his birthday when he was here. How grateful we are for him in our lives.
Where did the time go? Now he is a Dad and we are watching the next generation grow up. How blessed I feel to be able to watch my grandchildren grow up, and teach me more and more about LIFE!

Red headed temper?
Have you ever wondered where some statements, or so called well known facts, or even some habits originated from? Like for instance, that all red heads have fiery tempers? When I know some red heads that don't . Or the comments that are made about blondes all being dumb. Or even other habits or traditions that are passed down. Like when you make a statement and then you knock on wood so you don't jinx yourself. Things like that...I have always wondered where they came from and why we keep doing them, even when we don't believe them? Most of them are harmless but I notice that even I say and do those things many times, then I stop and realize that I just made a blanket statement or that I just knocked on wood too and I am not even superstitious. I guess some of them are just habits, but many times I have thought I probably shouldn't pass them on to another generation.
I thought about this subject when my daughter had this photo of my granddaughter, Jenny on her blog. She is fiery and she is a red head, then I quickly remember our little Lauren and her hair was brunette, and she was one fiery toddler too...so that proves that some of things are just ....passed on ...stuff, not necessarily true or correct... just passed on. It does make one stop and think though of the power of our thoughts and actions. Sometimes I wonder if the person (who first said you have to knock on wood so that you won't bring back bad luck to you or whatever the reason is behind that) knows what a powerful thing they did, because it has continued on for years? I wish I could come up with something positive that the whole world would just pick up and do every time they encountered something negative. Wonder what that would be? Oh well, just food for thought tonight!

Memorial Day / Birthday!
Today is my daughter Amy's birthday! Yes, she was born on Memorial Day, she was our first and we couldn't imagine how much love this 10LB 10Z dark haired girl could bring into our lives. Even though we were brand new parents, and didn't have a clue what to do, we were so in love with her ...it didn't matter. Some how we figured out all the baby details, and we absolutely loved every minute of it.
Now I look at this beautiful blonde haired woman and realize, not only is she a dear friend of mine, but my daughter too! How lucky could a Mother be? She is now a Mother too, and so the generations have begun and I feel blessed.

I also feel blessed when I think of all the men and women ( and their families ), who have served... and now serve our country. Words cannot not express the gratitude we feel! How glad I am that we have this wonderful holiday to remember and honor them by.
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Memorial Day!

Hands
Every time I look at Amy's hands ( now that she is a grown woman), it reminds me of my Mom's hand. Amy thinks that is funny, because she says my hands reminder her of my Mom's hands too! There is something endearing about hands. I am sure it is because of how powerful a touch can be.
When I was a little girl, in church we used to sing a song called I HAVE TWO LITTLE HANDS it goes like this...
I have two little hands, folded snugly and tight.
They are tiny and weak, yet they know what is right.
During all the long hours till daylight is through,
There is plenty indeed for my two hands to do.
Kind Father, I thank thee for two little hands
And ask thee to bless them till each understands
That children can only be happy all day
When two little hands have learned how to obey.
Words: Bertha A. Kleinman, 1877–1971
Music: William Frederick Hanson, 1887–1969
It is hard to realize that my baby Lee, is now is an Uncle and has grown into a incredible young man. He had big hands as a baby, I knew that someday they would be bigger than mine ...and they are. Still it's hard to believe that my oldest child Amy, could already be a Mother and now holding the hands of her two little girls. Yes, it is important to remember how many lives we can touch and help, by using our hands and our hearts. That's what life is all about, serving and helping one another!

Grandchildren
Today I got to spend the day with my two granddaughters, we had a wonderful time! We started out with a snack, then put Jenny down for a nap. Next Angie and I were off to Nana's sewing room, where we created a special little purse for her. Then she played play dough, while her Mommy and I sewed some baby gifts.
Then Miss Jenny woke up and she helped me take out all my buttons and spread them all over the room. We played with the kitchen set and a ball too. Next we got a purse made for Jenny, this time I crocheted it ( while Jenny was crawling all over me ). Yes, it was a full and fun day! ( Did I mentioned that I am tired? )
A friend of mine saw me at the store with Amy and the girls the other night and said "you are so lucky to live close to your grandchildren." She is right, I realize that might always be the case with all my grandchildren, but I am at least going to try to enjoy each moment I am given. I hope I can make a difference in their lives, I hope I can help them understand their potential and value. I hope they know, that no matter what...Nana will always be there for them!
I love these quotes about Grandmothers ( of course it means Nanas too ). There is an amazing thing that happens to your heart, when you hold these special kids in your arms for the first time, life from then on...is never the same...it's BETTER!

She's here!
Today I waited patiently ( ok just sorta patiently ) by the phone, for my sister-in-law to call and let me know when her 3rd granddaughter was born. The call came around 8:00 a.m. "she's here!", what beautiful words those are. I know that there are babies born every day, but still I am so glad to know that the delivery is over and that each child has arrived safe and sound. When I hear that the baby are mommy are doing well then ... I am a happy camper. I love my nieces and nephews a lot, and so as our family tree keeps getting bigger, Aunt Lynn is grateful. I read this sweet story today and thought how neat it is to be an Aunt or a Grandma. The love you have for these kids is hard to explain, but at least it goes both ways. I don't have any girls with freckles yet but you never know with red heads!
The Eyes of Love- Inspirational Life Story
A grandmother and a little girl whose face was sprinkled with bright red freckles spent the day at the zoo. The children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.
'You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!' a boy in the line cried.
Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head. Her grandmother knelt down next to her. 'I love your freckles,' she said.
'Not me,' the girl replied.
'Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,' she said, tracing her finger across the child's cheek. 'Freckles are beautiful!'
The girl looked up. 'Really?'
'Of course,' said the grandmother. 'Why, just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles.'
The little girl peered into the old woman's smiling face. 'Wrinkles,' she answered softly.

Motherhood
I read this quotes on Motherhood today and I loved them!
Motherhood is the toughest job in the world but like this quote reminds us....it is definitely worth it.
"A group of ancient Roman women were, with vanity, showing their jewels one to another. Among them was Cornelia, the mother of two boys. One of the women said to her, " And where are your jewels?" to which Cornelia responded, pointing to her sons, "These are my jewels?" Under her tutelage, and walking after the virtues of her life, the grew to become...two of the most persuasive and effective reformers in Roman history. For as long as they are remembered and spoken of ...their mother will be remembered and spoken of with praise also." ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
"When God wants a great work done in the world or a great wrong righted, he goes about it in a very unusual way. He doesn't stir up his earthquakes or send forth his thunderbolts. Instead, he has a helpless baby born, perhaps in a simple home and of some obscure mother. And then God puts the idea in the mother's heart, and she puts in into the baby's mind. And then God waits." ~ E. T. Sullivan
