A feeling of Gratitude tonight!

I feel grateful to be able to do what I love each day! I get to be a wife of my best friend, A Mother for the 4 amazing kids and 3 new other kids who have become our family through marriage. A Nana for 4 amazing little spirits and one more sweet girl coming in just 3 days! Then a Teacher and a  Friend to some amazing ladies!
Today I was able to start teaching at yet another amazing Quilt Shop. It was fun to have so many friends there who came to support me.

Inspirational quote

You know that I love Christmas, so when I was able to teach yet another Christmas Demo, of course I was more than happy and grateful to do what I love once again!

Circa 15 is the name of the shop that I taught in today, she has a great shop!
I taught a Hexagon Tree Skirt with a cute pattern that she was selling there.
Then I taught a 2nd demo for this cute little hexagon coaster. I made it from the left overs from the tree skirt.  Actually I think it might even be a cute Christmas Ornament.
I love to work around such beautiful fabric and friends...it's inspiring to say the least!
So I feel grateful tonight. For the opportunity to DO WHAT I LOVE, which is to create and teach!
Good night dear friends!

A week of Creating!

Yesterday, today and tomorrow... I was and did and will create with a dear friend! What a great start to the week. The friend I created with yesterday, let me come to her house and see her sweet sewing room and she helped me make something for my little Granddaughter Oakley (who will be born in August). She is such an amazing seamstress, it was a real treat to see where she creates and look at all the stuff she has made in the past.
Today the friend I sewed with... came here to my house and we made a dress for her. She is someone that I met just a little over a year ago, and now has become an adopted daughter to us. What a treat to have her in my home, I love any time that we get together.
Then tomorrow I get to sew and create with my dearest of friend. We try to get together each week but sometimes that doesn't happen. How grateful I am to be among so many talented and amazing women in my life.
Oh yeah, and Thursday I am going to my daughter's house to create some more for a Baby Shower she is having! So I guess this is going to be quite the creative week.

The Night before Fall!

Its the little things! Now we have been looking at a lot of stamps with all of the stuff for Lauren's Bridal Shower and Wedding but ...it wasn't until Angie noticed the seasons on the stamps the other day, that I realized that I have been going soooo fast pace for the last couple of months! Maybe I have missed some of the little things!
I had the girls for a 3 night / 4 day sleep over this weekend and once again I am reminded about the little things that count!
Like Beautiful Stamps...
 Girls with amazing IMAGINATIONS...
CREATIVITY from just about anything...

Enjoying a Night Before Fall mean! With homemade Apple Crumble we made all by ourselves! And even for Pumpkin Fairies that brought the girls little cute pumpkins, because she felt bad that out of their whole pumpkin patch this year...they didn't get ANY pumpkins!

The girls worked for sand animals ( reptiles) that Brad found when cleaning out the garage. So the girls now have inherited them and we found homes and blankets for each of them! See that is creativity at it's best isn't it?

Well, it was a fun filled weekend to say the least!

What should I really be doing today?

I heard a wonderful talk in church yesterday. Here are some of the the notes that I wanted to remember from about this subject...which was Doing What God Would Want Us To Do Each Day!  I think that it is easy to get so busy with all my To Do List every day, and even easier to forget to ask my Heavenly Father what He wants and needs me to do.  I also really loved the reminder that we all have talents and that it is important to share our talents with others, to make their lives better. I do think that it is important not to waste the talents we have been given. And to all of those people who claim that they don't have any creativity or talents....I loved this quote!

"You may think you don’t have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts, every one of us. The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before—colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter." ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
When I read the last part of that quote of FAMILY MEMORIES and FLOWING LAUGHTER, it made me think of the photos of the kids when they were little. I thought of them as sweet family memories, but when the kids see them all they can do is laugh and asked questions like..." Why did you cut my bangs like that?" "Why were my pants so short and my waistband so high?" Oh I thought and still do that they were too cute. Yes, this is a photo of Amy and Brad...not sure if they would want me to identify them? But just look at those cute faces...yes, that has got to be Amy and Brad! :)

I work with the most amazing women at our Quilt Shop! I have said it before, but they are so talented and are some of the most giving women that I know. They spend hundreds of hours and quite a bit of money... creating these BEAUTIFUL quilts, only to give them away to any one in need. Each time a quilt is donated, or I hear of all the quilts that were made others in need... I feel in awe, and honored to know them. They are great examples to me... of doing what you can to help others, even if it takes a great sacrifice of time and effort.
So I am grateful for the talk that was given and for the reminder it was to me. I am still tired from my trip last week, so I am going to head to bed. Good night dear friends!

"When ye are in the service of our fellow beings we are only in the service of our God." when we serve others we begin to love them and we can see God's image within them.Hope you all had a fun-filled Labor Day weekend! From today, we're all back to business again. Here's a great quote to get you started! Stay connected to www.gottashopit.com

Encouragement

My mom told me that from the time I was real little, that all I wanted to do was draw! She would always told me how good I was and how much she loved each picture that I drew. I was grateful for her encouragement and it helped give me the desire to keep going at it. However my dad was just the opposite, he thought it was a waste of time and a distraction from my school work. I think it is interesting the power that parent's have over their kids, just through encouragement or criticism. This story was a good reminder for me to truly watch what I say to my kids about their talents and likes.

One never really knows the potential in a child, so it is vital to try and support and encourage every talent that they have or desire to have. I don't mean support by sending them to school's and classes that cost a lot, but a support through the encouragement you give them. Yes a kind word, positive thought, believing in them...all these things can go a long way and most important can help your child go a long way in life!

Good night dear friends and don't forget to encourage and appreciate your own talents and those of your family.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the famous 19th-century poet and artist, was once approached by an elderly man. The old fellow had some sketches and drawings that he wanted Rossetti to look at and tell him if they were any good, or if they at least showed potential talent.

Rossetti looked them over carefully. After the first few, he knew that they were worthless, showing not the least  sign of artistic talent. But Rossetti was a kind man, and he told the elderly man as gently as possible that the pictures were without much value and showed little talent. He was sorry, but he could not lie to the man.

The visitor was disappointed, but seemed to expect Rossetti's judgement. He then apologized for taking up Rossetti's time, but would he just look at a few more drawings- these done by a young art student?

Rossetti looked over the second batch of sketches and immediately became enthusiastic over the talent they revealed. "These", he said, "oh, these are good. This young student has great talent. He should be given every help and encouragement in his career as an artist. He has a great future if he will work hard and stick to it."

Rossetti could see that the old fellow was deeply moved. "Who is this fine young artist?" he asked. "Your son?"

"No," said the old man sadly. "It is me-40 years ago. If only I had heard your praise then! For you see, I got discouraged and gave up--too soon."

RIsing to the occasion!

"We become more adept at rising to the occasion each time we see ourselves doing it. Every time we cope well with whatever real life throws our way, it's another deposit of confidence, creativity, and courage in our self-esteem account... When you need to rise to the occasion, do it with style. Do it with a knowing smile. Confound them. Astound yourself. Make it look easy, and it will become so." ~Sarah Breathnach

I found this quote and thought about how true it is. Every time we make a deposit of the 3 C's ( CONFIDENCE, CREATIVITY AND COURAGE ) it really does build up our self esteem and that has to be a good thing.

It is late and I think that I am just going to leave this quote with you, it's a bit deep but...I love it, it makes me want to take that challenge, to face whatever life throws at me. Thanks for supporting me, when I was too weak and scared to support myself. That's what friends are for right?    Night!
