Someone has to sit on the curb, or do they?

As I woke up this morning, I was shocked that I already had some bad thoughts about myself ...racing through my head. As Jeff and I talked about struggles that we each have... and how different our struggles are. So true. I don't really remember ever having a time that I didn't have to Daily Work On My Thoughts! I am grateful that I at least acknowledge it, but some times I feel a bit worn down by them. I think it is because I am hurting more now also. Being in pain every day seems to take a toll on a lot of things, including my thoughts. When I read this quote, I thought..NO THAT IS NOT TRUE! That is the world saying some of us aren't good enough, but we can at least stand on the curb and wave or clap! I am so grateful that I know that each one of us all Sons and Daughters of God. That gives us a potential that the world can't even comprehend! And so none of us should have to or be expected to just SIT ON THE CURB!
And I love this quote (below) about Mother's and how they raise their sons, to treat all women as a Princess. All you have to do is look at the paper, news or billboards... to see that the World doesn't believe in this quote! I know that I struggle each day with negative thoughts about myself, not being good enough, smart enough or acceptable enough. But each day I pray that I will realize my potential and for every bad thought that comes my way, I try to have a positive one to push it out! That usually works really well. That is also why I am grateful for my blog. It makes me continually look each day for the good and positive things in the world, so that I can share them with you!

Growing older

   Well, for some reason I am extremely tired tonight, so I won’t write much for fear of mixing all my words together. Plus, you shouldn’t read this unless you have a strong stomach!

    I just thought of something today that made me laugh. When I was a little girl, (ok, maybe not too little, actually I was a teenager ) I spent a lot of time with my Grandmother.  I loved my Grandma Johnny, and loved any chance I got to be with her.

   One thing that I remember doing was …she would sometimes ask me to get the  tweezers out and put the long hairs off of her chin, because she couldn’t’ see do that. I actually just did it and thought, how sad that you can’t even see that on your face. I wasn’t grossed out, because she was my Grandmother and I thought she was beautiful inside and out.

    But I have often thought if that is where they got the saying on the story of the 3 little pigs? When the pigs said “ not by the hair of our chinny chin chin”?
Anyway, I warned you that I was tired, did you see how fast I got off track tonight with my thoughts?

    I know have been growing some unwanted facial hair over the years, the kids get absolutely grossed out if they even see me trying to look in the mirror and pull out one of them. At first I thought, this is so embarrassing, how can this be that I am growing more hair on my face as I get older? Then one day, I just laughed…there are a ton of changes that are happening as I get older, and none of them are very appealing or pretty. So if a few unwanted facial hair is as bad as it gets one day, then I realized I am very lucky.

   To prove that I have embracing my aging body, I now just wait till Jeff or Lee finish using their electric razors and then I ask if I can use it. They just about die of embarrassment every time I do!
I just can’t seem to win…but the good news is,  I do have a smooth face!

   Plus, we need to remember…no matter how old a woman is…she is always a Princess deep down inside, even if she had chinny chin hairs!

Childlike

I love to watch how children make friends so easily. Tonight we went to a park to watch my niece and nephew-in-law play tennis. While we were there, my other niece and her daughter ( my great-niece ) went over to the play ground. As we were standing there talking... a little girl in a purple sun dress and about 7 years old, came up to me and asked if I would be her friend. I said " Yes, what is your name my new friend?" Without hesitation she said " My name is Rapunzel Taylor". To which I quickly replied " Really my name is Cinderella " , she smiled and said "really?". Then we went on to play for a little while before I had to go.

Yes, we would all do better if we were a little more childlike, a little more willing to accept everyone as they are...a friend that we just haven't met yet! I am grateful to my new friend Rapunzel Taylor for asking me to be her new friend! It made me happy tonight! Good night to all my new friends, and my old friends!

Princess and the Pea

Most of us know the story of the Princess and the Pea, I thought it would be fun to have Jenny's one year old photo as the Princess. Well, I won't ruin the photo by telling you all the problems we had trying to get 5 baby mattresses down a hill, into a wooded area with lots of bugs and two tired kids, let's just say the Princess, had all she could take and so she went to sleep. At least someone in our family is able to sleep.

My heart is so grateful to have yet another little granddaughter...another princess in our family. I used to hate to hear someone call their spoiled little girl a princess. A princess in my opinion wouldn't be selfish, mean or spoiled. She would stand up tall because she knew who she was and understood the potential for good that she had. Yes, that's a true princess and that is what we need to teach these beautiful little girls, who they really are... Daughters of God!

A Little Princess

The other night Jeff and I watched the movie A LITTLE PRINCESS by Warner Bros. On the back of the cover it reads... From the beloved classic by the author of The Secret Garden, A Little Princess has storytelling magic to unlock imaginations and inspire dreams. Sara Crewe (Leisel Matthews) shares a life of wonder in exotic India with her devoted father ( Liam Cunningham). But war draws Sara's father into the military and Sara is sent to a New York boarding school run by the strict Miss Minchin ( Eleanor Bron ), to whom exuberant Sara is a troublemaker. But with courage, imagination and kindness, Sara overcomes her hardships-- and changes her life and the fortunes of those around her. Experience this "jewel of a movie" ( Leonard Maltin ) for anyone who ever wishes or dreams.

If you haven't seen this movie, you ought to take time out to get it and watch it for yourselves. I think it is one of my favorite movies, the most moving line in the whole movie for me, was when she said this...

"I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags. Even if they aren't pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses. All of us."  ~ Sara Crew

Plus, I love the fact that her Dad is the one that taught that to her, and he was also her HERO...isn't that really what a Dad should be?

Well, it is late and Lee is still very sick. Last night there wasn't much sleeping going on, because he was coughing so much, I hope tonight he can get some rest.
