Just a quick bite!

Today I went back to the Doctor. It was a month recheck and she wanted to see how I am doing. I had to be honest with her, I am still struggling. After doing almost anything, I am pretty wiped out. After going to church on Sundays, I can pretty much expect to have to stay down and low on Monday and Tuesday. I told her that when I am that tired that my throat still hurts and I am just fatigued to the point that I just have to lay down. Although I tried to remind her that I have been better these last 3 weeks than the last 5 months but...I am still quite far from FEELING GOOD.
I am trying to count my blessings at the same time, being aware of how my body is doing or not doing. She did a throat culture because of how red mine was, my nose was irritated from allergies, my ears are hurting  and I have a constant headache. I totally thought it was because of my glasses but after having them adjusted a couple of times, the headaches were still there. She said I hate to tell you " it's not your glasses, it's your sinuses and the allergies that are hurting your head so bad".
So I got a few more things to help with my sinuses and came home and sewed for the next few hours.

Today my daughter-in-law Krystal and our grandson Kai were flying in to go to her brother's Graduation. Her family lives in Yakama and they just usually pick them up from the airport and head back home, because they still have a 3 hour drive to her home. I called Krystal and asked if there might be any way that we could just come by the airport or meet for lunch somewhere close for just a quick bite...so we could see them for just a moment. We haven't seen them since Christmas, and this Nana and Poppa are having Kai withdrawals. I knew it was a lot to ask of her Dad and family, but we kept our fingers crossed. They called and said that would be fine. So I took off drove to Jeff's work and picked him up, and we headed to the Bahama Breeze( a great restaurant near the airport).
So for one hour, we got to see and eat with our Kai boy. Man do I miss this kid! He is just a such a happy boy and a great little eater. It did our grandparent's heart good to be with him ( if only for an hour ). Thanks Jeff and Tracy for sharing this little guy with us!

How grateful I am for family, and how much we love being Grandparents. We are very blessed.
Good night dear friends!

I love this quote...except mine needs to say " he calls me Nana."
Such a sweet gift from Grandson(s). Customize the name "Grandma" for any other name she might be called..."Nana", "Grams", etc. 11x14 "So there are these boys...they call me Grandma" by Houseof3,

Our light!

Last night our internet service quit, that is why I didn't do a post! And since tonight is Date Night, I thought I would go ahead and do my blog right away!
I loved this quote, it is so true...there has been many times in my life that when things were really tough, someone who shared their light with me, made all the difference! And I want to say Thank You!
I hope we all try harder to keep our own light burning and be ever watchful to share the light you have, with others in need. I think this is something we all are suppose to do on a daily basis!
Have a great day!
I was just thinking about some specific special people today: @[1539690040:2048:Teresa Niederhausern], @[757289601:2048:Jake Cahoon], @[503853715:2048:Natalie Hawkes Delano], @[663888998:2048:Thayne Orgill], @[641335865:2048:Spencer Cahoon], @[555280640:2048:Shawna Hilton], Natalie & @[613161765:2048:Geoffrey Rayback], @[1354587117:2048:Laia GC], @[1251300042:2048:Shannon] & @[100002794492703:2048:Shane Davenport]. What makes you come alive?

I read this quote the other day that said … “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes  you come alive and then go and do that.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”                       ~ Harold Whitman

I love that, what makes you come alive? And when we find that out, that is what we should be doing with our lives!

My daughter sent me this video of people who are sharing their  talents. As you watch the video, you can truly tell this is what makes them feel alive. Just watching these people do what they love, inspires me!  Hope it does you too.

Good night dear friends!

Time...how do you measure it?

   We just spent the evening with some dear friends, that used to be our neighbors. Our kids were young then, now we are exchanging REMEMBER WHEN stories, and trying to remember names and faces. It was fun, it is hard to believe that was almost 9 -10 years ago. We had a wonderful dinner and evening together, the hours just flew by, that's what happens when you are having fun and with someone you love.
   How grateful we feel to have them as our dear friends. You know you are dear friends, when you haven't seen on talk to each other in years or maybe months... and as soon as you start talking, it was like you were together yesterday. We just started our conversations it seemed, where we left off! They are great people and it was fun to catch up on each other's families and to hear what they have been doing lately. Life is certainly a place to learn and grow. A place to reconnect and cherish. Life is good, and I am grateful for the time we had to share with them tonight!

TIME

Time is not measured
by the years that you live
But by the deeds that you do
and the joy that you give

And each day as it comes
brings a chance to each one
To love to the fullest
leaving nothing undone

That would brighten the life
or enlighten the load
Of some weary traveler
lost on Life's Road

So what does it matter
how long we may live
If as long as we live
we unselfishly give.

Sharing Mothers

I have been grateful for my dear friends, who are kind enough to share their Mothers with me. My Mom passed away when I was 40 years old, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her. Tonight a dear friend of mine called and said that while her Mother was in town for a wedding, could they come over and visit. She wanted to see my house all decorated for Christmas...yes, which is still is. Her Mother will be 93 years old in March, and what a sweetheart she is, and she is doing amazing well at her age. She is beautiful inside and out. Her spirit is still so happy and strong, that must be where her daughter gets it from. I felt honored to have them in my home.

The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well, it is late and I am worn out... but just wanted to share with you this sweet poem and quote about Mothers. Please remember to hug and cherish your Mom, if she is still with you. And if you are like me and she has already passed away, then remember to try your hardest every day to be everything that your Mom would have wanted you to be.Try to be the best Mom you can be to your kids, that way... your Mom's life will effect generations to come!
Good night dear friends!

“Most of you are mothers, and very many of you are grandmothers and even great-grandmothers. You have walked the sometimes painful, sometimes joyous path of parenthood. You have walked hand in hand with God in the great process of bringing children into the world that they might experience this estate along the road of immortality and eternal life. It has not been easy rearing a family. Most of you have had to sacrifice and skimp and labor night and day. As I think of you and your circumstances, I think of the words of Anne Campbell, who wrote as she looked upon her children:

You are the trip I did not take;

You are the pearls I cannot buy;

You are my blue Italian lake;

You are my piece of foreign sky.

(“To My Child,” quoted in Charles L. Wallis, ed., The Treasure Chest [1965], 54)

"You [mothers] are the real builders of the nation wherever you live, for you have created homes of strength and peace and security. These become the very sinew of any nation.”   ~Gordon B. Hinckley,

Sharing!

Thought this was a great story and reminder of how sharing can change the world!

Enjoy!

Stone Soup

Many years ago three soldiers, hungry and weary of battle, came upon a small village. The villagers, suffering a meager harvest and the many years of war, quickly hid what little they had to eat and met the three at the village square, wringing their hands and bemoaning the lack of anything to eat.
The soldiers spoke quietly among themselves and the first soldier then turned to the village elders. "Your tired fields have left you nothing to share, so we will share what little we have: the secret of how to make soup from stones."
Naturally the villagers were intrigued and soon a fire was put to the town's greatest kettle as the soldiers dropped in three smooth stones. "Now this will be a fine soup", said the second soldier; "but a pinch of salt and some parsley would make it wonderful!" Up jumped a villager, crying "What luck! I've just remembered where some's been left!" And off she ran, returning with an apron full of parsley and a turnip. As the kettle boiled on, the memory of the village improved: soon barley, carrots, beef and cream had found their way into the great pot.

They ate and danced and sang well into the night, refreshed by the feast and their new-found friends. In the morning the three soldiers awoke to find the entire village standing before them. At their feet lay a satchel of the village's best breads and cheese. "You have given us the greatest of gifts: the secret of how to make soup from stones", said an elder, "and we shall never forget." The third soldier turned to the crowd, and said: "There is no secret, but this is certain: it is only by sharing that we may make a feast". And off the soldiers wandered, down the road.     ~ Unknown
