Feelin Down?

I have to say that this quote is the best advice for anyone that is feeling down, sad, hurt, lonely or even in pain. To serve another person, makes you feel better and truly changes your perspective for the better!
Good Night dear friends, and thanks for all the times you have been a blessing in my life!

What a Blessing!

Today our little granddaughter Miss Oakley got blessed at church. Oh how we wished would could have been there for it. But since we were both there just a few months ago, to help them move in and for the arrival of Miss Oakley, we just couldn't afford. But some of her family got to be there, so we were grateful for that.
Krystal was worried about the dress might not fit, since Oakley is growing so fast. This dress was crocheted by Krystal's Great Grandmother, so Oakley's Grandmother, Mom and Aunt ...all wore this Blessing Dress, I love that it has been handed down for generations! Isn't this a beautiful dress...for such a beautiful little girl. I love that she had this and my blessing afghan with her, at least a part of us is with her. I love this little girl

Today was a blessing to me.

Today I went to work and although I teach these ladies a few new tips and tricks to quilting and sewing, it seems to me that one who is blessed is me.  I get to do what I love as my job! I get to see these ladies and spend some time with them. Learn about their lives, their concerns, their grandchildren, and they also share their creations with me. There is something healing about creating something to give to someone you love. Yes, these ladies are worth more than any pay check I get. They have become my dear friends, and I don't think I could ask for any better job than this.
Good night dear friends!

Here's what we made today!

Importance of extended family!

My Mom was only 70 years old when she passed away. My youngest brother Ty, had only 2 of his 4 kids by then. They don't remember my Mom very well  ( their Grandma Lou ). I have really tried to stay close to his kids and tried to fill the void that not having a Grandma left. I am super close to many of my nieces and nephews, and for that I am very grateful. Here are some of the photos of our trip...
( This is my nephew Luke and I, at the Howdy Party for my niece's wedding. It was a party to have both sides of the family have fun and get to know each other...it was neat! )

Here is where the Howdy Party dinner was held, look at that view. It was held at Snow Basin, Needles Lodge, we had to go up by a tram, it was beautiful!
Here is the bull that they brought up for everyone who was brave enough to ride. I will show you photos of me even riding it. I know you don't believe it but...I have pictures to prove it! Here on the left, is some of my family watching and supporting us.
I think that in today's world where there are so many things that are dividing the family that it is vital that we do all that we can to strengthen and defend them. Having close relationships to our extended family can be a true blessing! And I am very grateful for that.
Good night dear friends!

"Our most basic institution of family desperately needs help and support from the extended family and the public institutions that surround us. Brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents and cousins can make a powerful difference in the lives of children. Remember that the expression of love and encouragement from an extended family member will often provide the right influence and help a child at a critical time."

Family what a blessing!

I am so sorry that I didn't mention that I was going on vacation. I actually thought that I would be able to still do my blog but we have been so busy, and haven't gotten in at night till late and I was beat. So here I am 2 days from doing a post and can't believe how much I miss doing it. It is a great experience for me to always be looking for something positive, uplifting or motivating to share with you. Thank you for that!
We are here in Utah with family for my niece's wedding. I am close to these kids and love that we have the chance to share their big moments in their lives with them. We have been going non stop and so I thought I would have a minute to write but realized the time and we are off to a concert tonight. Wedding tomorrow.
This quote has always meant a lot to me. It is something that I have dreamed off all of my life to have a family and Home like I do. And it is true...I am blessed!
Good night dear friends!

Attitude of Gratitude

I read an article on Gratitude today, and thought it would be perfect to start this week out, since Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. So I will share with you some of the quotes in this article  ( The Divine Gift of Gratitude  November 2010 from Thomas S. Monson).

"When  you walk with gratitude, you do not walk with arrogance and conceit and egotism, you walk with a spirit of thanksgiving that becoming to you and will bless your lives"  ~ Gordon B. Hinckley

The article also mentioned the story in the New Testament from the book of Matthew, where the Savior had traveled in the wilderness for three days, more than 4,000 people followed and traveled with Him. The Savior realized that many of them probably hadn't eaten during the three days. When His disciples couldn't see how they could possibly feed that many people, the Savior looked at their situation differently. The disciples saw only what was lacking. The Savior asked how much food they had ( only seven loaves and a few fishes ). The Savior asked the multitude to sit down and He blessed and divided the food, then gave it to his disciples to distribute among the multitude.
The point is that the Savior gave thanks for what they had and then the miracle followed. After everyone had eaten, the disciples were asked to go back and gathered what food was left. ( which was seven baskets full ) . We all have experienced times when our focus is on what we lack rather than our blessings.

We can lift ourselves and others as well when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate without our hearts an attitude of gratitude.

"Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted"  ~ Aldous Huxley

"He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has"  ~ Epictetus
