Smile Every Day!

I read an article the other day about the importance of smiling. It mentioned that if you tried smiling every day,it could change the world. "From small and simple things great things will come to pass" ~ Elaine Dalton.  It goes on to say...Who knows if a smile can change the world, but research shows that it certainly can improve a person's life. A recent study found that a habit of genuine smiling may contribute to happiness and better adjustment in life.

For many years the conventional wisdom has been that people are happy because they are successful. But additional researchers, who analyzed 225 studies involving 275,000 people, found the truth might be just the opposite---that people are successful because they are happy. Happy people are easier to work with, more highly motivated and more willing to tackle difficult projects. It goes on to say that each happy friend a person has, boosts their chances of happiness by 9 percent. Having grumpy friends decreases it by about 7 percent.

So we have all the reason in the world to smile, plus pick happy friends. There are a lot of pressures and burdens that could get us down but by remembering that all of it ...is just a part of life, then we should make more effort to smile.

I had a great reason to smile today. Today Chris (my partner) and I went to Evergreen Hospital and presented our RECNAC (Cancer) gifts, the gift shop will start selling 6 of our items. We brought a lot inventory and set up our table in front of the gift shop. It went GREAT! We sold a ton, and everyone was excited to see Brad's logo and here the story about how RECNAC was created. I met so many wonderful survivors and family members of patients. I even saw many of the nurses that took care of me from surgery, radiation and Physical Therapy, it was an inspiring day and one of great gratitude for me. I couldn't have even imagined that I would be where I am a few months ago. When my cancer returned in Oct. I was struggling to see a future at all. But now that is mostly what I think of ....possibilities of the future!  It was a long day, but sooo worth it.  Well, I will see how I feel tomorrow, before I brag too much !:) I am just happy that the gifts will be available for more cancer patients now! Amy came and took photos so...tomorrow be looking for those. Thanks to everyone who has believed in our RECNAC GIFTS project and for everyone who has helped make it a reality. I am not sure where we go from here, but I am sure something will work out, if it is suppose to.

I will close with a few more quotes on this topic of smiling and happiness. Good night and don't forget to smile!

"ANYONE WHO IMAGINES THAT BLISS IS NORMAL IS GOING TO WASTE A LOT OF TIME RUNNING AROUND SHOUTING THAT HE'S BEEN ROBBED. MOST PUTTS DON'T DROP. MOST BEEF IS TOUGH. MOST CHILDREN GROW UP TO BE JUST PEOPLE. MOST SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGES REQUIRE A HIGH DEGREE OF MUTUAL TOLERATION. MOST JOBS ARE MORE OFTEN DULL THAN OTHERWISE. LIFE IS LIKE AN OLD-TIME RAIL JOURNEY----DELAYS, SIDETRACKS, SMOKE, DUST, CINDERS AND JOLTS, INTERSPERSED ONLY OCCASIONALLY BY BEAUTIFUL VISTAS AND THRILLING BURSTS OF SPEED. THE TRICK IS TO THANK THE LORD FOR THE RIDE"  ~Gordon Hinckley

"MOST FOLKS ARE ABOUT AS HAPPY AS THEY MAKE THEIR MINDS UP TO ME."  ~ Abraham Lincoln

"THE WORLD ALWAYS LOOKS BRIGHTER FROM BEHIND A SMILE"   ~ Unknown

P.S. If you want to watch a movie that will make you smile, go see UP by Disney, it was great!
